Julie Lee, Masusui Anna Thomas, and Susan Standfield raised funds for Kenya's SHERP orpganage.

Hugh Jackman, the X-Men 3 star, joined local folk jamming Mike Wood's Third-off-Burrard Auto/One dealership Thursday. They weren't there to buy a lone $600,000 Porsche Carrera GT, but rather $50,000 of artwork that will generate some $17,000 for the SHERP orphanage in Kenya's Samburu district.

Event organizer Susan Standfield will continue her efforts to fund the institution.

In a move many charity-auctions might emulate, a third of the funds raised went to the contributing artists - who usually receive nothing.

Plaudits for that to Standfield and curator Julie Lee.
